The Pool Battle is an experimental dance event located 500m above sea level in front of the Caribbean Sea. The goal is to full up the pool with art and create ecological awareness, bring urban arts to nature, where the invited professional dancers must overcome all the challenges exposed in each round of the battle.
It is 1 vs 1, where dancers meet and discover each other on the day of the event.The music is performed live by musicians who meet each other on the same day. Therefore, begins the work of concentration, sharing and the magic of improvisation to compose the music in each round happens. There are three judges: two professional dancers and the audience.
We want to give to the community a great event to close the year 2023 and we want to start 2024 with a lot of artistic activities for our students!
As we did in the first edition, Pool Battle supports local farmers and we are a sustainable event, so the prize for the winner of the Pool Battle is vegetables and fruits from the region.
This makes the concept of the Pool Battle unique and innovative. We also want to create awareness about water recycling and the use of naturals resources. An empty pool becoming a dance stage shows perfectly our message. We offer food with recycled plates and glasses that can be washed and reused. We promote waste recycling, local and organic food.
The second edition of this event will be on December 29, 2023 but in addition to the battle, we want to offer to Manzanoarte students a week of workshops with 3 international artists who will come as volunteers to teach with a final performance on January 6, 2024.
